Microneedling

Using controlled micro-injuries, the treatment encourages the skin’s natural healing response and can improve acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation, uneven texture and overall skin quality.

At Vicky Bonney Aesthetics in Tewkesbury, every microneedling treatment is tailored to your individual skin concerns, with the treatment depth and approach adapted to your skin and the area being treated. Microneedling FAQs

How does microneedling work?
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing response and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

What can microneedling help with?
Microneedling can improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scarring, enlarged pores, pigmentation, uneven texture, stretch marks and general skin quality.

How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your skin and what we're treating. For general skin rejuvenation, a course of around 3 treatments may be recommended, while concerns such as scarring may require a longer treatment plan.

How often can I have microneedling?
Treatments are generally spaced around 4–6 weeks apart, allowing the skin time to heal and regenerate between sessions.

Is there any downtime?
Your skin may look red and feel warm or sensitive following treatment, similar to mild sunburn. This usually settles over the following few days, although recovery varies depending on the intensity of treatment.

When will I see results?
You may notice your skin looking fresher as it heals, but collagen production takes time. Improvements can continue to develop over the following weeks and months, particularly after a course of treatments.

Can microneedling treat acne scars?
Microneedling can be particularly useful for improving the appearance and texture of certain acne scars. A consultation allows us to assess your scarring and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

Can you microneedle the body?
Yes. Microneedling can be performed on suitable areas of the body to target concerns including scarring, stretch marks and uneven skin texture.

Can microneedling be used for hair?
Yes. Scalp microneedling can be used as part of a treatment plan to stimulate the scalp and support the conditions for healthier-looking hair.

Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. Your skin and medical history will be assessed to ensure microneedling is appropriate for you and to determine the safest treatment depth and treatment plan.
